Who We Are and Scope of This Policy
Hopkins Bruce Publishers, Corp., trading as Docket Navigator, is the data controller responsible for the personal data described in this Privacy Policy, unless we state otherwise. The data controller is based in Texas, United States.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and retain personal data when you use our websites, products, services, emails, AI features and integrations. It also explains your rights under applicable data protection laws, which may include the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
Website Usage and Storage Information
We may receive and store certain types of website and email usage information whenever you visit any of our websites or open one of our Docket Navigator emails. For example, we may collect the page served, time, source of the request, type of browser making the request, preceding page view, previously stored “cookies”, and other similar information. With regard to the Docket Reports and other email messages, we may store information about whether or not the email was viewed, whether or not images were downloaded from our server, links that may have been accessed, the identity of the subscriber, and whether or not the report has been forwarded to others. When analyzed, website and email usage information helps us determine how subscribers and visitors utilize our Content, what type of Content is most popular, and the manner in which our Content is being viewed.
Use of Cookies
Our website uses cookies to collect information about your access and the services we provide. Cookies are pieces of information which include a unique reference code that a website transfers to your device to store and sometimes track information about you. A number of cookies we use last only for the duration of your web session and expire when you close your browser. Other cookies are used to remember you when you return to the website and will last for longer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you and can only be read by a server at the domain that issued the cookie. We may use cookies to:

Other Information Collected
We may receive and store certain types of personal information provided by you in the course of providing service. For example, we may collect terms, phrases, and choices you make while searching, browsing, or configuring alerts or bookmarks. We collect and store billing information. We record changes to your account status. For example, we may record when payments were made, when your account was accessed, when your password was reset, and similar audit information.
Categories of Personal Data We Collect
Depending on how you use our services, we may collect account and contact details, login credentials, subscription and billing information, transaction records, product and website usage information, email engagement information, search terms, alerts, bookmarks, audit logs, technical information such as device, browser and IP address data, support communications, and information processed through AI features and integrations.
Information Collected Through AI Features and Integrations
If you choose to connect Docket Navigator to a third-party AI assistant through one of our AI integrations (including our Model Context Protocol (“MCP”) connector), we receive and process the requests the assistant or platform sends on your behalf, including search terms and tool parameters, and we return responsive Content. We also collect usage information about these connections, such as which tools are called, when, and by which authenticated account, along with associated technical measurements such as token usage, in order to operate the service, monitor performance and cost, and understand adoption.
Our integrations are designed to collect only the information necessary to perform the function you request; they do not collect the content of your conversations with the AI assistant beyond the specific request sent to Docket Navigator. Our integrations do not access or query the AI platform’s memory, chat history, conversation summaries, or files you have uploaded to the platform. When you use our integrations, your requests are transmitted to the third-party AI platform you have connected, and that platform’s privacy policy governs how they handle your data.
When you use our in-platform chat agent, your prompts and the responses generated are processed to provide the feature, including by cloud AI infrastructure providers described under “With Whom Information May Be Shared” below. Chat conversations are held only in your browser’s local storage for the duration of your session; we do not save your chats on our servers after your session ends. Our AI summarization features generate summaries of court documents and other Content in the Database; they do not process content you provide, other than your request identifying the documents to be summarized.
We do not use personal data, prompts, search terms, tool parameters, chat content, or customer content to train, improve, or develop our AI models or any third-party AI models.
How We Use The Information Collected
The information you provide to us may be used to:
- Send you newsletters and/or other e-mail communications for which you have registered;
- Contact you about changes to our websites or our services (e.g., notification of changes to this Privacy Policy, the Terms of Use, or other policies that affect your use of our websites);
- Provide you with educational or training information about the products or services that you ordered or about new products or services;
- Confirm or fulfill an order you have made;
- Authorize a purchase or complete a transaction that you have requested, i.e., to deliver the products or other services that you ordered, and, if necessary, to invoice you;
- Monitor or improve the site;
- Administer the site’s systems and for other internal business purposes;
- Customize the content you see;
- Operate, secure, and improve our AI features and integrations, including the MCP connector, and monitor their adoption, performance, and cost;
- Comply with and monitor compliance with our Terms of Use and other applicable agreements and policies; and
- For other purposes disclosed when you provide your information.
Lawful Bases for Processing
Where UK GDPR or similar data protection laws require us to identify a lawful basis for processing, we rely on the lawful bases set out below:

With Whom Information May Be Shared
We may share personal data with third parties where necessary to operate our business and provide our services. These include:
- Hosting providers and cloud infrastructure providers that host our website and services;
- Payment processors and financial institutions to process your payments;
- Email and CRM providers to send you communications;
- Analytics providers to understand how you use our services;
- Customer support and service providers;
- AI infrastructure providers that power our AI features;
- Professional advisers, auditors, and insurers;
- Regulators, courts, and law enforcement authorities where required by law;

We require third parties who receive personal data from us to keep it confidential and secure, and to use it only for the purposes we specify or as otherwise permitted by applicable law. We do not sell personal data.
AI Platform Providers
If you use our MCP connector or another authorized AI integration, your requests and the responsive Content are transmitted to the third-party AI platform provider you have chosen. That platform provider’s handling of your information, including any retention of your conversations, is governed by their own privacy policy, not this one.
Analytics Providers
We use third-party analytics services e.g. Google Analytics, Pendo to understand how our products and services are used. These providers collect and analyze usage information on our behalf.
Cloud AI Infrastructure Providers
Our in-platform chat agent and AI-generated summaries are powered by large language models hosted by our trusted and approved cloud AI infrastructure providers. When you use these features, your prompts and the Content processed to generate responses are transmitted to these providers only as needed to provide the relevant feature. We require these providers to process that data only on our instructions, , and to retain it only for as long as necessary to provide the service, support security, or comply with applicable law.
International Transfers
The controller is based in the United States and may transfer personal data outside the United Kingdom and European Economic Area, including to the United States and to countries where our service providers operate. Law Business Research Limited is based in the United Kingdom and acts as our UK privacy contact point.
Where required by applicable data protection laws, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers, such as:
- Adequacy regulations (where applicable);
- The UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum (for transfers from the UK);
- The European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses;
- Supplementary measures where appropriate, such as encryption, anonymization, contractual restrictions on further transfers, or other technical and organizational measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the data.

Data Retention
We retain personal data for as long as we have an ongoing business need or lawful basis to do so. This includes retaining data to provide and administer our services, manage subscriptions and accounts, maintain historical product, billing and audit records, support security and service integrity, comply with legal, tax and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and support business continuity.
Where personal data is no longer required for the purposes for which it was collected, or where we are required to delete it in response to a valid legal request, we will delete, anonymize or de-identify it unless we are required or permitted to retain it. This may include retaining data for legal, regulatory, tax, accounting, contractual, security, dispute resolution, audit, service integrity, public record, product content or similar purposes.
For clarity, deletion rights do not automatically apply to information that forms part of Docket Navigator’s database, research materials, litigation histories, docket-derived content, public record information or other product content, where we are permitted to retain and use that information under applicable law. We assess deletion requests by reference to the nature of the information, the source of the information, the purpose for which it is held, and any applicable legal exceptions. Where an exception applies, we may decline to delete the relevant information.
Your Rights
Depending on where you are located and subject to applicable legal conditions, you may have the right to:
- Request access to your personal data;
- Obtain correction of inaccurate data;
- Request deletion of your data (known as the “right to be forgotten”);
- Request restriction of processing;
- Request portability of your data;
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing purposes;
- Where we rely on consent, withdraw that consent at any time.

We will respond to requests within the timeframe required by applicable law. Where UK GDPR applies, this is usually within one month of receipt. Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) in the United Kingdom, we obtain consent before sending electronic marketing where required by law. Where permitted, we may rely on an existing customer relationship or other applicable exemption. You may opt out of marketing communications at any time, and we will honour your preferences.
We may still send non-marketing service messages, such as account notifications, billing updates, security alerts, and legal notices, even if you have opted out of marketing communications.
Security
We use appropriate technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal data against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration or disclosure. However, no method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure. While we employ industry-standard security practices, we cannot guarantee absolute security, and you transmit information to us at your own risk. Children
Our services are intended for business and professional users and are not directed to children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child, we will take appropriate steps to delete it, unless we are required or permitted by law to retain it.
